International Youth Forum: Changing the Face of Earth One Challenge at a Time

OPG World School, since 2024, actively engages in the Global Youth Forum, a dynamic event supported by the Victorian Government, Australia, bringing together students from schools across the globe. Participants explore youth-led initiatives focused on intercultural communication, identity, leadership, and UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Students of grades 7 to 10 participate in structured sessions and design-thinking activities, developing prototypes to address school-based challenges. They engage in interactive modules that foster self-awareness, empathy, and intercultural understanding while exploring innovative solutions to global concerns. Breakout rooms provide safe spaces for discussing diverse perspectives and collaborating on problem-solving with students from schools across the globe.

The highlight of the forum is the students’ presentations of their prototypes, which aim to address sustainability challenges and improve school practices. These sessions empower young minds to think globally and act locally, preparing them to become conscientious change-makers.

Last year, two groups of students from Years 7 and 8, and Years 9 and 10 participated in the forum, where they had the opportunity to interact with peers from schools in Japan, Australia, the UAE, and other countries. Together, they worked on identifying UN Sustainable Development Goals to focus on and implement at the school level. The students developed prototypes for projects aimed at contributing to a sustainable future, which were later presented on a global platform. Additionally, they gained insights into the challenges faced by other schools worldwide.

This year too, the students of the said grades are gearing up for the sessions to be held in the months of May and August.

OPG World School recognizes the forum’s impact, applauding its students’ efforts and celebrating their role in shaping a sustainable future.
