National Sports Day- an inspiring event unfolded at JLN Stadium, Delhi

On the occasion of National Sports Day, 29th August 2023, an inspiring event unfolded at JLN Stadium in Delhi, where students from OPG World School were present. The event witnessed the esteemed presence of the Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Shri Anurag Thakur, along with Secretary Sports, Smt. Sujata Chaturvedi, renowned sporting legends Mary Kom and Anju Bobby George, as well as athletes and officials from the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Sports Authority of India, Indian Olympic Association, and National Sporting Federations.

The focus of the event was the launch of four major initiatives that are set to redefine the landscape of sports and youth engagement in India:

1. National Sports Federations Portal: The first initiative unveiled was the "National Sports Federations Portal." This digital platform aims to enhance the efficiency and transparency of National Sports Federations, promoting better communication between athletes, officials, and sports enthusiasts. The portal's launch marks a crucial step toward modernizing sports administration and management.

2. Khelo India Infomercial Booklet: The "Khelo India Infomercial Booklet" was the second major announcement. This booklet is envisioned as a comprehensive guide to various sporting disciplines, training techniques, fitness regimens, and the remarkable stories of Indian athletes. Its purpose is to educate and inspire the youth to participate actively in sports and embrace a healthier lifestyle.

3. Portal for Support of Professional Athletes for Financial Support for Sports Infrastructure under Khelo India Scheme: The third initiative introduced a dedicated portal to support professional athletes in their pursuit of excellence. This portal will facilitate financial aid for sports infrastructure, thereby empowering athletes to excel in their training and competitions under the Khelo India Scheme.

4. 3rd Edition of Fit India Quiz: The fourth initiative presented was the announcement of the "3rd Edition of Fit India Quiz." This engaging quiz aims to promote fitness awareness and encourage individuals to adopt healthier lifestyles. By incorporating interactive questions and challenges, the quiz seeks to spread knowledge about fitness, nutrition, and overall well-being.

The presence of OPG World School students lent a youthful enthusiasm to the event, emphasizing the importance of youth engagement in sports and fitness activities. The collective participation of dignitaries, sporting legends, athletes, and officials highlighted the government's commitment to fostering a robust sports culture and encouraging active participation across the country.

    Owning the Zone

    The Girls' Basketball Team of OPG World School showcased exceptional skill and determination in the Zone 21 tournament, securing a commendable 3rd place! Their cohesive teamwork, strong defense, and effective offense were evident throughout the competition. This achievement not only brings pride to our school but also stands as a testament to their dedication. Their success is sure to inspire future students and cements our school's sporting reputation. Kudos to the players, coaching staff, and supporters who contributed to this remarkable feat.

      Model United Nations (MUN)

      Model United Nations (MUN)
      The students of OPG World School showcased remarkable skills and enthusiasm at the Resonance Model United Nations (MUN) Event hosted by New Era Public School,Mayapuri on August 18th-19th 2023. Their adept diplomacy, research, and public speaking were evident as they actively engaged in simulated global issue discussions. Special Mention awards were bestowed upon Ronit Mathur, Tejas Garg, Samarth Chaudhary, Meharpreet Singh, Hritvi Rajpal, and Rakshita Arvind for their insightful contributions. Notably, Kayeshaa Bhan stood out with her authentic portrayal of Amit Shah, earning her High Commendation 2 and a cash prize. Additionally, Maayra Ahuja, Prabhnoor Kaur, Renelle Vij were recognized for their creative journalism skills. The ultimate honor of Best Delegate was awarded to Dhanya Sangwan , representing the Chief of Naval Staff, for her exceptional negotiation prowess and insight, along with a trophy and a cash prize.

        All the best Yajas Gupta for the National Finals of 'The iCode Hackathon 2023'
        Yajas Gupta of Class IV-D has qualified for the National Finals of 'The iCode Hackathon 2023', ranking 5th in Delhi and 76th nationally. The 7th edition of this global K12 coding contest boasts participation from over 2.5 million students across 73 countries.

          Arnav Aggarwal excels in CA Foundation exams !

          Arnav Aggarwal (batch 2022-23) cleared the Foundation exam of the Chartered Accountancy course with a distinction, scoring 306 out of 400, and has been awarded by team PhysicsWallah for being in their top 5 scorers in the exam. Congratulations!

            G20 Activities at OPG World School

            G20 Activities at OPG World School, Dwarka

            OPG World School, Dwarka observed July 2023 as ‘The G20 Month’ with an aim to support the government’s ongoing efforts of making India’s G-20 Presidency a success. Numerous activities, ranging from creating display boards to debating, were scheduled to create awareness amongst the student and teacher community about G20. Students of grades VIII and XII created informative display boards on the theme of India’s G20 Presidency - “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”, and the Finance Track respectively. An Inter-House English Debate Competition was held for students of Classes IX to XII the topic of which was 'G20 has merely meandered around important economic challenges, doing precious little about it'. An enlightening quiz focused on the G20 was conducted for students of grades VI to VIII. At the school assemblies there were presentations made on various G20 work streams. Some of the themes chosen were: the LiFE Approach, G20 Finance Track, Disaster Risk Reduction, Culture Working Group, Tourism to meet SDG goals , Education,  and Health. Teachers pledged their commitment towards education by taking the G20 Amrit Kal Shiksha Sankalp. These activities underscored OPG World School's commitment to showcasing G20 under India’s Presidency.

              Visit to GOONJ (NGO)

              Visit to GOONJ (NGO)
              “The purpose of human life is to serve, to show compassion and the will to help others.” To learn about this, students of OPG World school visited Goonj, a Delhi-based non-profit organization focusing on disaster relief, humanitarian aid, and community development. The visit on August 11, 2023, engaged grades IX-XII, exposing them to Goonj's disaster management, segregating cloth for work, etc. Notably, some students were honored for their material collection contributions. This experience enriched their understanding of service, compassion, and aiding others.

                Math Club

                The Math Club is a platform which brings together the best minds in mathematics and provides them with an environment that challenges the students to further sharpen their mathematical skills. Students are prepared for competitive exams such as the IMO, Aryabhatta etc. The focus is on building a strong foundation in the basics of Math and then honing the problem-solving skills. Mock exams are conducted which help students to get a feel of the actual exam format, and resources like textbooks, apps, and online materials are used to support their learning. Advanced strategies include practicing with past papers, emphasizing understanding over memorization, using technology, encouraging independent learning, providing feedback and support, organizing mock tests and competitions, and focusing on mental math and problem-solving skills. The aim of the club is to enable students to develop the skills and confidence they need to succeed in competitive mathematics exams.

                  Congratulations to our senior boys badminton team

                  Our school's senior boys badminton team, consisting of Kshitiz Ahlawat (XII B), Neev Negi (XI), Aditya Gupta (XI B), and Jigesh Khoker (XI) achieved a remarkable feat at the Prestigious Zonal Senior Boys Badminton Tournament in Dwarka Zone.
                  Out of a fierce competition involving sixty-four teams, our boys displayed exceptional talent, unwavering determination, and seamless teamwork. Their hard work and dedication earned them a well-deserved third place in the tournament!

                    Visit to Food Corporation of India

                    A group of eager Class 9 students from OPG World School recently took an informative field trip on 4 August ,2023 to FCI Shaktinagar to explore the concept of food security. The FCI officials warmly received the students, introducing them to the detailed procedures that guarantee food safety and maintain quality standards. A standout moment of the trip was the observation of the fortified rice production process, which deeply impressed the students with its nutritional implications. In a gesture of thanks, the students gifted the officials with handmade cards expressing their appreciation. Paarth, one of the students, was especially commended for sharing his profound reflections on the experience. Overall, the trip served as an indispensable educational experience, emphasizing the significance of food security in fostering a healthier and more sustainable tomorrow.

                      Siddhi Shinde and Siddhant Shinde bag the third position in Inter-School Science Exhibition

                      We are thrilled to announce the impressive success of our students at the Inter-School Science exhibition held at Mount Carmel school on 4th August. In the sub-junior category, Siddhi and Siddhant secured third place with their model depicting the "effects of junk food and adulterated food on our body, and its prevention." This remarkable achievement underscores their dedication to health awareness. Congratulations to Siddhi Shinde and Siddhant Shinde (Grade VI) for their outstanding accomplishment!

                        Agrima Gaur - Winner of Zonal Hindi Kavita Vachan

                        दिनांक 8/8/23 को क्षेत्रीय हिंदी कविता वाचन प्रतियोगिता में विद्यालय की अग्रिमा गौर (8B) ने सत्तर प्रतियोगियों की स्पर्धा में वीर रस की "बनो सुदीप देश के "का अत्यंत ओजस्वी काव्य पाठ किया । अग्रिमा ने प्रथम स्थान करके सम्पूर्ण द्वारका क्षेत्र में विद्यालय का नाम रोशन किया ।

                            Poetry Recital

                            OPG World School conducted a Poetry Recital on the 31 July’23. Each of the twelve poem had a deep meaning, lost memory or unspoken words attached to it that gave a glimpse into the complex emotions of the speaker. It was a delightful experience overall.

                              Sumedha Vashisht- 3rd position in Annual Science Symposium

                              St. Columba's School, Gole Market organised its Annual Science Symposium for students of class X.
                              In order to ignite the interest of the students with a positive learning approach, they organised a Poster Making competition on the topic "An Ode to Millets".
                              Sumedha Vashisht secured the 3rd position with a very visual and graphical representation of how millets are useful for farmers, are considered super food and how they have been a part of our culture.
