Cyber Awareness Program

On the 29th of November 2023, Mr. HS Randhawa, ACP Cyber Crime Cell of Delhi Police, conducted a Cyber Awareness Program in OPG World School, targeting young minds. During this informative session, the students gained valuable insights into the dynamic landscape of cyber threats and learned essential measures to protect their digital assets. The workshop addressed prevalent cyber attacks, including phishing, malware, ransomware, and social engineering, emphasizing preventive strategies and best practices to mitigate these risks.

Mr. Randhawa underscored the importance of strong, unique passwords, regular software updates, and secure browsing habits. The session effectively broadened the perspective of students regarding the realm of various online platforms. The workshop also dedicated a segment to instilling cyber ethics and promoting responsible online behaviour. Students were urged to maintain ethical standards in their digital interactions, contributing to a safer online environment. Overall, the Cyber Awareness Program aimed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the digital world securely and responsibly.

OPG World School took pride in hosting the third annual 'Call for Earth Day 2023' event in collaboration with esteemed partners CNN International and NGO - STRAW India. About 25 children from Grades 4 and 5 participated. This impactful initiative aimed to shed light on the theme 'Our Shared Homes,' focusing on raising awareness about harmonious co-existence with community animals in India.

On Tuesday, 28th November 2023, the event unfolded through an engaging CNN International live stream between 1:45 pm to 2:20 pm. STRAW India volunteers treated our young learners to an engaging story session, sparking a lively discussion, along with Q&A session with CNN reporter, got them thinking about what it is that we, as humans, can do to create a conducive environment for our community animals. A notable moment during the event occurred when our students had the opportunity to engage with two community puppies. This experience played a crucial role in raising awareness and sensitizing them towards the proper handling and care of our four-legged companions.

The event successfully communicated the importance of responsible co-existence with community animals, leaving an enduring impact on the participants.

Sweeping Victory!

Harshit Bansal, a tenth-grade student, emerged victorious at the CBSE National Skating Championship 2023 held in Gurugram, Haryana. Harshit secured Gold Medals in both the 500m and 100m sprints, marking an epic triumph.

The greatest happiness one can feel arises from the act of giving. To begin with, we express our heartfelt gratitude to all the parents who initiated and generously contributed to the noble cause of providing essential items for those less fortunate, enabling them to experience moments of joy.

Our appreciation extends to the parents, students, and staff members who recognized their social responsibility and wholeheartedly participated in this endeavor. 

The collected items have been dispatched to two non-government organisations, Children of the World and Social Vision.

This drive was an immense success.

A workshop focusing on financial literacy was organised for the staff on October 26, 2023, at the OPG World School. The primary aim of the workshop centered on educating participants about effective fund management. The speaker detailed on the distinctions between various financial instruments including mutual funds, ultra short-duration funds, PPF, Sukanya Yojana, term plans etc., emphasizing investment destinations and areas to be cautious about. Significantly, the session highlighted the importance of Systematic Investment Plans (SIPs), stressing the absence of a 'perfect' time to commence, encouraging immediate action. It was an enriching session for all teachers alike.

BrightChamps organized a Bright Talks event at IIT Delhi on October 28th, featuring young entrepreneurs Arth Tayal, the brain behind "HelProduce," and Abeer Kushwah, who assisted with the presentation. HelProduce aims to reduce the 20-30% produce loss during long-distance transportation for farmers. The event had 50-60 principals and directors in attendance, and the duo received recognition and certificates from IIT Delhi. One school principal even expressed interest in investing in their startup. These events inspire and nurture young entrepreneurial minds, fostering innovative individuals from an early age.

Rakshita Aarvind (9B) and Harshaan Sidhu (8A) participated in BEHES round 2.0 at SVIS Dwarka and secured 1st place in the CUBS division (JUNIORS). Harshaan earned the 24th position (silver medal), while Rakshita achieved the 7th position (gold medal) out of the top 70 contestants. This dynamic duo won the hearts of everyone.

Etasha Tanwar, a Class V C student, demonstrated remarkable skills during the trials at Bal Bhawan School on October 27, 2023. Consequently, she has been selected to represent Zone 21 in the U-19 category for the Delhi State Cricket Championship, scheduled to take place from November 1, 2023, to November 8, 2023.
