    Mock Parliament

    Mock Parliament
An educational philosopher once stated, "Give the pupils something to do, not something to learn, and when the doing is of such a nature as to demand thinking, learning naturally results." In line with this philosophy, the students from Classes IX to XII of OPG World School, Dwarka, organized a mock parliamentary proceeding known as the Question Hour on the topic- “Democratic Values and Parliamentary Understanding” on 18 May 2023.The purpose of this youth parliament was to strengthen the roots of democracy, foster a healthy habit of discipline, and enable students to understand the functioning of the parliament. Around 50 students from grades IX to XII enacted parliamentary proceedings, each representing a member of the parliament, either from the ruling party or the opposition. During the Question Hour, several important issues were raised and discussed, such as Freedom of Speech, Economic Crisis, Educational Reforms, Hindenburg Report, Border Crisis with Neighbours, Manipur Violence, Weakening of Institutions, and more. The delegates engaged in thoughtful deliberations, demonstrating their knowledge and critical thinking skills. The Question Hour concluded with a vote of thanks to the esteemed institution.
